Steel Warehouse Company is the North American leader in high strength steel processing. We developed SWC SHIELD Armor Plate in direct response to our customer's demands for flatter, higher quality armor plate. We produce a complete line of modern armor plate to satisfy both U.S. and Global Standards. Our proprietary alloys and heat treatment capabilities are fully approved by the United Stated Army.

Our Armor processing

SWC SHIELD Armor Plate was developed in close association with the U.S. Army's Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Armor plates are traceable throughout the production process. Our primary Armor products are engineered to satisfy U.S. Military Standards and our in house capabilities provide for the production of unique grades as may be required to satisfy the specific needs of our customer's applications and featured objectives.

SWC Shield

A product line designed and produced to satisfy every U.S. and Global military standard. From the raw steel production through the closely monitored discrete conversion into individual armor plates, SWC SHIELD is the quality and cost effective answer to your armor plate needs. SWC SHIELD is produced in multiple thickness, width and length combinations to minimize scrap and maximize our customer's profitability and ease of manufacturing.

Ballistic Testing

SHIELD 360 meets and exceeds the values specified in MIL-A-12560H, Class 1. All Ballistic testing has been performed at Aberdeen or a US Military approved facility

Availability

SHIELD 360 is available in thicknesses of 3-16mm with maximum width of 2400mm. Thickness >16mm, please inquire. Maximum length is 15 meters.

Shield 380

Shield 380 is a specially quenched and tempered grain-refined plate product for light gauge ballistic armor applications. It conforms to MIL-DTL-46177C (MR).

Ballistic Testing

SWC SHIELD 380 meets the requirements specified in MIL-DTL-
46177C (MR). Production lot qualification is performed at an
approved test facility.

Availability

SWC SHIELD 380 is available in widths up to 60" (1524mm) and in
thicknesses from 0.125-0.249" (3.18-6.32mm) with a length of up to
50 feet (15.24 meters). Inquire for custom widths and lengths.

Shield 385

Shield 385 meets and exceeds the requirements specified in MIL-A-12560 J (appendix A Class 1).

Ballistic Testing

The requirements of SWC SHIELD 385 meet and exceed the requirements specified in MIL-A-12560 J (appendix A Class 1). SWC SHIELD 385 has been qualified at Aberdeen (US Army Proving Ground). Production lot qualification is performed at an approved test facility.

Availability

SWC SHIELD 385 is available in standard widths of 48", 60" and 72" with a maximum availability of 96". Inquire for width/thickness availability.

Ballistic Testing

Testing of SHIELD 500 is always performed at the US Army Aberdeen testing facility or a US Government approved test facility. Specific requirements are listed in Appendix A of Military Specifications 46100E.

Availability

SHIELD 500 is available in thicknesses of 2.5mm 50mm / .098 2. Standard widths are 48, 60, 72 / 1220mm, 1524mm, 1829mm. Custom widths are available up to a maximum of 98 / 2500mm dependent upon material thickness.

Shield 600

Shield 600 is a medium-carbon quenched and tempered steel plate product meeting requirements of MIL-DTL-32332 (MR) for specialized ballistic armor applications.

Charpy V-Notch Impact Tested @ -40o F, 6 ft-lbs min., full size, transverse. Sub-size specimens used for sizes <1/2 thick will meet the MIL spec.
Ballistic Testing

To meet MIL-DTL-32332 (MR) test projectile .30 cal AP, M2, 30o obliquity; testing of production material will be done at an approved test facility.

Availability

SHIELD 600 is available in widths up from 40 to 60 (1200 -1524mm) and in thicknesses from 0.187-0.500 (4.75-12.7mm) with a length of up to 24 feet (7315 mm). Inquire for custom widths and lengths.
